Compost Facility—Job Opportunity

The Town of Mayerthorpe is seeking a responsible individual with good public relations to work at the Compost Station, must be willing to work Saturdays.  This contract position consists of 22 hours per week.

Fundraising Opportunity

Spring 2017 Community Cleanup

The Town of Mayerthorpe is looking for local community groups to undertake a spring cleanup in the Town. 

Litter must be picked up from the following locations: 50th and 52nd Street, all parks, school grounds, north and south town entrances, sports grounds and Town- owned facilities.

  • Groups must provide a satisfactory ratio of supervisors to children.
  • The Town will provide garbage bags, picker sticks and safety vests.
  • Groups or individuals must provide work gloves.

Cleanup work should be carried out on a weekend. Groups or individuals must meet with a Town representative prior to commencing cleanup so the Town can coordinate the picking up of garbage bags by Public Works.

To qualify for the program, groups must provide a written request to the Town, confirming dates that the group will perform the work and providing an address and phone number for the group contact person. Work must be completed no later than May 15th.  If the weather does not cooperate, an alternate date will be discussed.

A community group could receive a lump sum payment up to $1,000.00 plus an additional $3.00/bag; however, if more than one application is received the successful community groups will receive a minimum lump sum payment of $500.00 plus an additional $3.00/bag upon successful completion of work.

Swimming Pool Manager

Town of Mayerthorpe has a 40 hour per week position available at the Mayerthorpe Aquatic Centre for a Pool Manager from approximately May 1 to August 31, 2017. 

Qualifications are:

­       National Lifeguard Service

­       Standard First Aid with CPR Level C

­       Pool Operators 1

­       Water Safety Instructor

­       Computer Skills

­       Aquatic facility operation experience

­       Supervision experience preferred

­       Outstanding interpersonal and communicational skills

­       A high level of organizational skills and self-motivation

Mayerthorpe Economic Development Board

The Mayerthorpe Economic Development Board has an opening for one (1) new member. This advisory board to Town Council strives to create and promote a positive economic environment for the people of Mayerthorpe and area. Board meets once a month. This is a volunteer position.
